I subscribed for this race in April hoping and wishing and praying that I’d make a pal to run with me. Well, that never happened. But, I did find someone that needed a ride to the race so skinny Runner and I carpooled.

We met at 3:52am so she undoubtedly had no time to change after her night job.

I’ve been burnt out on running and finally was ecstatic about this race! I love Disney stuff so I have been looking forward to running through Disneyland. For a second I thought I was Tinker Bell and tried to fly. It wasn’t happening.

“You win again, Gravity!!!”

I hit up goodwill last night for a throw away cover considering that my tee shirt was tissue thin.

But, it wasn’t very cold so I was ready to toss that thing before the start.

Just a sell out with my shells out…

Skinny Runner must change her name to photo Runner because she ran with cam in hand and documented every mile, snot rocket, water stop, porta potty, back fat shot and Disney Character!

The first part of the course ran through Disneyland – it was still dark at this point. Running through the castle was pretty romantic amazing though! main street and Cinderella’s Castle were lit up and magical

At about mile 3 we headed out of the D-land area and ran around Anaheim. There was a lot of crowd support through downtown Disney and ideal out of the park. The course around Anaheim was nothing amazing, but there were some good bands and cheer squads!

Around Mile 11-ish we headed to California Adventure. This was best timing and pumps you up to finish the race! Plus, by this time the sun is up so you can really see and take pleasure in the sights and sounds of the park!

My side braid didn’t want to cooperate so I kept fussing with it the whole time. For some reason 2 braids work fine, but one braid is too thick and keeps jumping from front to back. Noted.

But, I am delighted to report that my shell bra didn’t fall off! I was terrified one of my shells abandoned ship when someone yelled, “Areola!!” but it turns out they were just yelling “Ariel”! Whew!

Skinny Runner is substantially faster and skinnier than me so I thought she was going to take off and win the whole damn thing. But, she ended up running with me the entire time. We talked and took pleasure in the course – it was the most fun I’ve had in a race.

Before I knew it we were at the finish line! This race really flew by!!

Tinker Bell half done in 1:50:25 – That’s pretty good considering we were  talking (about vacations, races, ex-boyfriends, bowel movements and religion) the whole time!

Thank you SR for running with me, going to the porta potties twice before hand, taking pictures and looking the other way as I shoved an entire Clif Z bar in my mouth post race.

pleased Monday! I set my alarm for 6 for an early run but it was still very dark when I set out. because my only speed route (read: flat) is on a dark trail I chose to switch it to tomorrow for safety reasons (even though I do run faster when I’m scared!).

Then, I took a shower and grabbed breakfast. I made pumpkin oats and put them in a peanut butter jar for easy transport. The added reward of OIAJ is that they fit in the cup holder!

But, I did wonder if my fellow chauffeurs thought I was eating straight up PB for breakfast…

I rushed out of the house because I had my annual physical today. भाग्यमानी म। When I rushed out the door Ben said, “Have fun!”. Um, no. No I will not.

It should be a pain to be my doctor.

Thyroid update: My T-3 levels are better, but I stopped taking the Cytomel because it was making me crash an hour after I would take it. My doctor is switching me to a compound version. Luckily, I can get it best next door to her office.

The pharmacist there was AMAZING. She asked me tons of questions about why I was on this, my levels, habits, other meds. and then she suggested taking a B-complex and Ashwaganda. We ended up talking for over a half an hour and she answered tons of questions about supplements for endurance athletes too!!! It was the best.

From my doc’s I headed to my mom’s (I was in the area because I’ve kept my doctor). As soon as I walked in I raided her kitchen for some fruit. She swore I had to try this new Nature Valley protein bar. It’s good, but a little high in calories for something that still just seems like a granola bar.

I was very inspired by all the athletes and highlight clips I saw at the LA live event on Saturday (I’m even considering trying a tri!). So I want to pass along some of that motivation to you with this Refuel training video with Dara Torres.

Breakfast when I got back was the typical – eggs for days, Sriracha and a bagel thin. But, I was craving bagel thicks (aka real bagels) – so I got on that later.

I scored some watermelon on manager’s special and it made my lil day.

And I hit up the bulk bins for a chocolate fix. I’m busted because I used to do this once in a while, but now it’s every time.

I decided I want to eat a bagel before my run tomorrow and hit up the local bagel shop for a really good one. But, I couldn’t decide which one!

Savory or Sweet?

Both. certainly both.

So, I got an everything bagel

and a French toast bagel.

And because I probably shouldn’t eat two bagels before a run I had half of each best away. Amazing.

Yesterday when I hit up GNC for a few Quest Bars the sales lady literally exclaimed, “You look that like girl from 90210!” I was second in line so even the girl she was assisting turned around to look at me.

She was adamant that I appeared like Tori Spelling and that “You already know. You should get this every day! You look just like her.”

Ha! I thought it was funny and really random and told my pal who stated she doesn’t see it.

I personally think I look like Zack Galifianakis…

I’m not on a gluten free diet, so I didn’t particularly make these Pumpkin Pancakes g-free, however it’s just a happy benefit that they occur to be celiac risk-free

Now, I like garbanzo beans so I was extremely excited to utilize garbanzo bean flour (Whole Foods find). cooking with a new component is always fun. however if you don’t have the wish to eat bean flour you can utilize any type of flour option.

Gluten free Pumpkin Pancakes

Ingredients:

1/2c egg whites (or 2 eggs)

1/4c pumpkin

1/4c garbanzo bean flour (or flour of your choice)

1/2 tsp. each: pumpkin pie spice, stevia, baking soda, baking powder

dash o’ salt

1 tsp chia seeds (optional)

Directions: mix all ingredients. Grease hot griddle well – since these ‘cakes don’t have oil in them they tend to stick. Cook. top with syrup, peanut butter, bananas, olives, whatever. Eat.

Today’s toppings of option where peanut butter, bananas as well as pumpkin butter. Sadly, I’m out of syrup.

I usually try to get 2 or 3 pancakes out of this batch. cooking one large pancake works, however is a daring accomplishment to flip!

After her body was found my dad, my Nina and my mom all brought it up to me since I run by myself too. They wanted to know what I do to make sure I am careful and safe when I run or walk solo.

And you know what? even after watching the news stories about her being missing and police arresting a suspect, I didn’t for one second stop and think, “Wow, I run by myself too. It could have been me.”

But it could have been me or you and I think we all need to be reminded to be more careful every time we run.

The reality is she was not running in a desolate area, but a public trail with other runners. probably places similar to where you and I run.

I am just trying to urge you to be more cautious. I have some defense mechanisms I take with me on runs and I always stay on marked paths and trails, but being aware of you surroundings is of vital importance too.

Tips for a safer run:

1. Pepper spray – I actually found a good one that has a strap for your hand at my local running shoe store.

2. Run with a partner – this isn’t always an option, but you can run during popular running hours and try to stay near other runners.

3. Make sure someone knows where you’re going and when you’ll be back. Every time.

4. Kick him in the balls – self explanatory.

5. Don’t run in desolate areas or before or after dark.

6. Bring your dog or boyfriend on a bike ?

7. If you run with music – lower it so you can hear someone coming up on you.

Keep running, just be safe about it ?

I actually ended up really scoring a good dinner at the Salt Lake City airport!

I found a pub that had multiple vegetarian and vegan offerings and was all over it.

Since I was in a rush by the time I found this place I didn’t have time to dilly-dally and take my time looking at the menu. I made a quick choice and ordered a wrap – dressing on the side.

Yum! It was good, but they were a little low-cost with the tofu and it was mostly ice berg lettuce in here. Oh well at least it’s a better choice than most other offerings.

I had the option of chips with salsa or carrots and celery for a side. I went with the chips because I had already had a good amount of veggies today. but – I right away felt guilty about it ? I told Ben I got chips instead of veggies and he said, “Good for you. sometimes it feels good to take charge of your life and order what you want.”

He’s so cute ? I miss him…

I think I fly for the free diet Coke – don’t judge. Okay, I fly because I love to travel and check out my family, but I do love me some sody! now I better get some email stuff done before my battery wears out. I love having Internet on planes, just wish I didn’t have to pay for it (this ish was $10.00 each way! ).

Since it’s the last day of the difficulty I’m sharing the finisher’s certificate now. print it out as well as compose in your name as well as the overall miles you did this month. Running, walking as well as Run/Walk miles all count – it’s as much as YOU to choose exactly how you want to determine your progress.

Since this is a complimentary online Running difficulty – it’s based on the honor system as well as there’s not a physical medal being sent out.

Today I was working with: lentils, rice, tomato paste as well as stewed tomatoes. I considered making the Lentil Loaf I made a year back (blogs are so awesome in exactly how you can keep track of that stuff!).

But, I chose to wing it instead of using a recipe. I figured I would cook the lentils, mix them up with tomato sauce as well as put it over the brown rice.

After cooking the lentils I set them aside.  I sautéed onions as well as garlic. then added tomato paste, stewed tomatoes as well as a lot of random seasonings including: S&P, mustard, bbq sauce, chili powder as well as chili sauce.

I topped it with a little cheese as well as Wa-La! It’s dinner.

And since I was getting all nostalgic about old recipes I likewise made No Bake chocolate Oat cookies. this time I made them into balls as well as rolled them in coconut.

Actually, it wasn’t nostalgia whatsoever – Ben requested I make these. He seldom asks for desserts or me to bake/make anything sweet, so I was all over it!
